"Nuh uh! You're lying!" Tori accused loudly.
"Am not! All purebloods are related. My granddad told me so!" Marius defended righteously.
"Well, then your grandfather's a loon. 'Cuz there's no way I'd be related to a twit like you!"
"Don't talk about my granddad like that! He's a Malfoy! You take that back, you bloody squib!"
"I am not a squib and I will not take it back!"
Blake lunged at Tori and pinned her down on the grass.
"Take it back!"
"No!"
"Take it back, you little git!"
"Never, you stupid head!"
Suddenly, an egg-sized stone flew at Marius and hit him square in the chest. At the same moment an unseen force dragged Tori back a couple feet.
"Ouchie!" both children cried.
Marius rubbed at his chest and stood up. He couldn't believe Tori had used magic against him. He was furious! He looked over at Tori to see that she had sat up. Walking over to her, he noticed that her lower lip was quivering and tears were filling her eyes. All of his anger dissipated immediately. Tori could be very annoying and stubborn at times, but she was his best friend. And he hated to see her cry.
Marius sat down next to Tori and gave her an uneasy smile. The tears that had begun to slide down Tori's cheeks made him feel like a world-class jerk.
"Don't cry, Tori. I'm really sorry."
Tori sniffed and rubbed her eyes.
Shooting him a hard glare, she said, " You big meanie! You used magic to hurt me!"
Marius opened his mouth to argue that she did the same, but his protest died on his lips when he looked into Tori's eyes. Those striking green orbs would be the death of him.
"I said I was sorry," Blake said in a dejected voice.
Tori looked at his pitiful expression and knew she couldn't stay mad at him. He was so arrogant and hot-tempered, but they were best friends. She'd always be able to forgive him. Besides she knew it was an accident.
"I know. I forgive you."
The twosome smiled widely at each and stood up.
"Friends?"
"Best friends."
They walked back to the house hand-in-hand.
